No Place Like
Home
A dream becomes reality for Avenues residents
Ask Jim Kearns what he thinks of his home at
Avenues and he'll tell you, "It's great."
But even great places need extra care to stay
that way. And that is why the No Place Like Home initiative was
launched earlier this year to update and renovate some of Avenues'
aging properties.
To date, numerous improvements have been
completed at the Sasser Family House and the Clifton Avenue
apartments in Park Ridge. The facelift of the Sasser Family House
began with the installation of new windows made possible by a
generous donation from Board member Fred Sasser and his wife Pam.
Renovations continue to be made throughout the apartments and common
living areas including new carpeting, new cabinetry, accessible
walk-in showers, and landscaping. When the project is complete, it
is the goal of the No Place Like Home initiative to have every
apartment sparkling.
Work on the other five sites of the Avenues
properties is planned including landscaping, painting, installing
new carpeting and flooring, renovating kitchens and baths, and
replacing aging furniture and appliances.
Most of us share a common dream. It's a simple
one ...to have a place to call home ...a retreat, a sanctuary, a
respite from the daily stresses of our lives. For the program
participants at Avenues, that dream is no different.
