The Legacy of Doris Sasser
A gift that continues to give

Long time Avenues benefactor Doris Sasser, who passed away in February of this year, has left Avenues with a legacy that will continue to impact the daily lives of the residents she so cared for.

Doris and her husband Robert helped to establish Avenues' first residential program, which opened its doors in 1977.  Today, that home is known as the Sasser Family House.  In addition to her work on the Avenues Board of Directors, Doris and her family helped to develop new residences, expand the thrift shop, provide a state-of-the-art work center, and extend employment programs.

Doris left a generous bequest to grow Avenues' endowment to include a portion of funds targeted for residents' personal needs.  As she did so graciously in life, Doris Sasser will continue to touch the lives of the men and women of Avenues.
