Spotlight on Wine
Helps Avenues
Head down the highway...
 Avenues will soon be sporting two
new passenger vans to provide much needed transportation to the
people we serve. Whether taking over 100 participants to their jobs,
appointments, classes or social events, the purchase of these vans
will help reduce Avenues’ transportation costs, which will

more than $160,000 this year. The vans will be purchased with the
proceeds from our recent Spotlight on Wine event held at the Golden
Triangle Gallery in downtown Chicago.
Thanks to the efforts and
generosity of Avenues’ Chicago Partnership Board, our presenting
sponsor the Anna C. Gamble Foundation–several other supporting
sponsors and nearly 200 participants, $25,000 was raised to purchase
the vans.
Thanks to Board Member Fred Sasser
and Union Leasing, we will acquire the vehicles for Avenues. The
purchase will greatly benefit Avenues participants like our guest
speaker George Minasian, who has been a part of Avenues since 1982.
In a very heartfelt message, George explained how he takes a cab to
get to his job at Barnaby’s in Des Plaines, and takes 3 buses to
return to his home in Park Ridge. Even more remarkable is the fact
that George is 82 years young!
