At Avenues to Independence, we promise individuals with developmental disabilities opportunities to live and work with independence and dignity right here in our community. 

It’s a promise we made in 1953, and it’s a promise we’ve kept.  It’s at the core of who we are and what we do.



Now that promise is greatly challenged. Today, the people and families Avenues serves have been put in the middle of the worst economic crisis in Illinois, and their support system and future is at risk.

This is just not acceptable.  We don’t intend to go back on our promise.  Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.

And that’s why now is the time for the Campaign for Independence.

THE CAMPAIGN WILL PROVIDE:

• Independence and dignity for the people we serve. They want to be contributing members of our community, and they have so much to offer.
   
• Greater financial independence for Avenues.
   
• Peace of mind and confirmation to families that Avenues will be here for their loved ones for many years to come.
   
• Continued presence in the community, inspiring and empowering the lives of ALL that come into contact with Avenues participants, today and well into the future.  When that happens, all of our lives are richer.
   
• We’ve made a promise to help. Each day we remember that promise, each day we work to deliver it.

It is the most important thing we do.  Please join us.  Together, we have the opportunity to do great things.
