Working for Independence
Avenues offers an array of employment, job placement and developmental training programs.
Developmental Training at the Work Center
Learning and improving life and work skills is the central aspect of developmental training. Workers are provided with opportunities to participate in situations in which socially acceptable personal and work habits can be learned and enhanced.
Opportunties to earn an income are provided through contracts procured from various businesses and industries in the Chicago metropolitan area. We currently have more than 150 workers in this program based at our work center in Wheeling.
Job Placement Programs
Avenues develops employment opportunities, on-the-job training and support services for persons employed in the community. We provide job searching, application and interviewing skills, and job coaches on a limited basis. We strive to develop a good match between the employer, the employee and co-workers for the best outcome. We currently have 60 people in our job placement program.
