This year, Avenues had the opportunity to host the Beyond the Runway Fashion Show in a new and exciting virtual format that helped raise nearly $23,000 for the AveVenture Program at the Avenues Thrift Shoppe. With the help of the Fashion Show committee and some creative thinking by the Avenues staff we could still provide a meaningful experience for the participants and virtual guests.

Staff worked with Residential Managers to film at the Avenues homes and at the Thrift Shoppe to capture models walking the runway. Models wore fashions that were donated to the Avenues Thrift Shoppe. Virtual guests enjoyed the show via a link sent to them the day of the event. Silent auction items were available for bidding throughout the first weekend.

Proceeds from the event support the AveVenture program which trains individuals in customer service, computer skills, and general retail skills. It provides clients the chance to be entrepreneurs by creating and selling their own products such as jewelry and artwork.

Thank you to the Fashion Show committee for all of their ideas to help ensure that this fun event could still take place. Thanks to the support from sponsors, donors and virtual guests that ensured once it is safe to do so, the AveVenture participants will be able to continue this innovative employment program.
