Golf, Tennins and Paddle Classic

Posted by Avenues in News on 9/30/2020

Avenues to Independence is so fortunate to have been able to have a modified version of the 32nd Annual Avenues/Gorman Classic. On September 21st golfers and tennis players were able to safely participate at the Park Ridge Country Club. Together, we raised more than $112,000 for Avenues programs during these critical times.

Proceeds from the Avenues/Gorman Classic will allow the clients to get back to living the lives they choose whether that is returning to their job in the community, attending the Center for Independence or participating in the AveVenture program at the Avenues Thrift Shoppe.

This was the first event that Avenues was able to hold in person since the outbreak of COVID-19 and every precaution was taken to ensure the safety of participants. Foursomes were spaced out on the course and the weather was beautiful which allowed for all activities to take place outside including lunch and the evening reception.

As a special thank you to the Herbst Circle of Giving members, who are individuals who have given more than $1000 annually, received a special orange golf ball and they got to tee off from the middle of the fairway on the 10th hole. This year instead of a paddle raise at dinner, donors had an opportunity to become members of the Herbst Circle of Giving on the course and earn their own orange ball and an advantage on the 10th hole.

We would like to thank all those who participated, donated and sponsored especially the Calabrese Family, the events Presenting Sponsor.
